Joan V. Gladfelter, age 82, of Knoxville, Illinois, died at 9:45 A.M. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at her home.

She was born on October 8, 1936 in Kewanee, Illinois, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Strode) Schulz. She attended Galesburg and Knoxville schools, graduating from Knoxville High School in 1955. On August 19, 1956 she married Jack L. Gladfelter at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville.

Surviving is her loving husband of 63 years, Jack L. Gladfelter of Knoxville; one daughter, Debbie (Thomas) Worden of Knoxville; three granddaughters: Michelle (Nolan) McBride of Knoxville, Megan (Travis Fohey) Moore of St. Louis, Missouri, and Hailey Worden of Knoxville: two great-grandchildren: Makaiha Moore and Jordy McBride; and her siblings: Jean Edwards of Knoxville, and Jerry (Joan) Schulz of Kansas City, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Stephen; and two sisters: Shirley and Jessie Marian.

She worked for the former Gil Hebard Guns of Knoxville for 35 years. She loved her family, doing crafts, painting, and working in her garden.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois with Jared Hawkinson officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  On-line condolences and expressions of sympathy may be made through www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com
