Joan E Fontenot passed away quietly at home on November 6, 2019 at 8:06 pm.
Joan was born November 9, 1934 in Keokuk, Iowa to John and Harriet Wilson. She was raised by her grandmother in Galesburg, IL. Joan worked at Maytag for 30 years before retiring in 1995. After retiring she then worked for 12 additional years as the door greeter for Walmart.
Some of Joan’s favorite things to do were dance, fish, and occasionally go to the casino. She loved the color red and to dress well. More than anything, she loved to spend time with her friends and family.
Joan leaves behind two daughters, Cynthia (Tyson) Haywood and Felicia (Kevin) Wallace, grandchildren Andrea and Jerome Goodlow, Shawnta (Ronald) Adams, Shameka and Tyrone Haywood, Elicia Vann, Hazelee and Devin Wallace, Aleeya and Alaya Wallace, and also 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Harriet Wilson, her sister Delores Hollowell, and her spouses Leo Hollowell and Louis Fontenot.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Homegoing services will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor L.V. Cliff officiating. Burial will be at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.
