Macomb School District makes masks optional

Starting today, Friday February 11, The Macomb School District initiated mask optional protocols. This will include all indoor sporting events as well. It important to note, that the virus is not gone and other mitigation protocols remain in place. Superintendent Patrick Twomey, says masks are still mandated on buses as that is a Federal requirement. In addition they will continue social distancing, both in the classrooms and during lunch, and they will continue their testing program.
As of Wednesday, the Macomb School student COVID-19 positive rate was 0.52% and the staff rate is just under 1%. The local hospital has five recent admissions of COVID patients and 7 total.
