Mr. Ty A. Gardner, 27, of Knoxville, Illinois died unexpectedly, 12:39 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2022, at his home.

He was born April 21, 1994, in Galesburg, Illinois to Jeffrey Allen and Lori Lynn (Carlson) Gardner. 

Surviving is his parents, Jeff and Lori Gardner of Knoxville; a sister, Tarryn Gardner of Knoxville; a cousin who was like a brother, Matt Carlson of Moline, Illinois; an uncle, Scott Carlson of Galesburg; five aunts, Tricia Butler of Chicago, Illinois, Kathy (and Lance) Mitchell of Knoxville, Karri (and Jim) Pendergast of Galesburg, Karen (and Scooter) Lamberson of Silver Lake, Wisconsin, and Cathy (and John) Stromson of Abingdon, Illinois; and several cousins.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carol and Kenny Carlson and Allen and Clara Gardner and an uncle, Kent Carlson. 

Ty graduated from Knoxville High School in 2012.  In high school, he played football, baseball and was on the Bass fishing team.  In 2011 he was honored the All-Conference award in football.  He completed his apprenticeship in plumbing in 2020 and was working as a journeyman for the Local #25 Plumbing and Pipe Fitters Union.  Ty was both licensed as a plumber in Illinois and in Iowa.  Ty was truly an “outdoorsman”.  He had a passion for deer hunting and was featured in the Field and Stream magazine with the Boone and Crocket Award when he tracked down a 13-point buck with a bow and arrow.  He also enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, boating, and riding the side by side.  He loved sports and playing fantasy football with friends.  He was an avid Las Vegas Raiders and New York Yankees fan.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, friends, and his dogs.  Ty had an infectious smile and contagious laugh and will be missed by all that knew him. 

Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  Rev. Tucker O’Leary will officiate.  Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville.  There will be a time for friends to pay their respects with out the family present from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2022, at the chapel.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
