Macomb Police Respond to Single Vehicle Accident

On 06/20/22 at approximately 11:45 am, the Macomb Police Department responded to a single vehicle accident in the 200 block of E. University Dr. Witnesses stated that a vehicle went off the roadway and up an embankment, causing it be become airborne. Witnesses further stated that the vehicle came to a rest in Oakwood Cemetery and that the driver was currently fleeing from the scene on foot.

Upon the arrival of officers, a perimeter was established and the fleeing driver, Chadron E. Ferguson (35), was located one block away. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that Ferguson was under the influence of alcohol. Ferguson was transported to McDonough District Hospital and later charged and cited for the following:

Driving under the influence of alcohol and cited for no valid driver’s license, illegal possession/transportation of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to reduce
speed to avoid an accident, operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

The Macomb Police Department would like to thank the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office, Macomb Fire Department, Lifeguard Ambulance Service and the Macomb-McDonough Communications Center for their assistance with this incident.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
