State Budget Agreement Announced by House and Senate Democrats

A budget has been agreed to between Democrats in the House and Senate and has the backing of the Governor. The spending plan, about $50 billion, covers the cost of health care for undocumented citizens, adds more spending in K-12 education including dollars to support the Governor’s Smart Start program and $100 million for MAP Grants. Governor JB Pritzker says the new budget reacted to downgraded revenue returns for the next fiscal year.

Democrats claim this budget is balanced. Republicans are saying to few details are available to tell if its balanced or not.
