Monmouth City Officials Discuss Past & Upcoming Projects

Four major projects were undertaken by the City of Monmouth during the past year. Three of the four projects centered on drinking water and waste water treatment, while the other focused on the restoration and upgrade of South Sunnylane Rd. Public Works Director Andy Jackson is happy with the efforts of the City.

“We actually came in under budget by just short of $39,000 for the year out of a $3 million dollar budget. Again, that is a testament to my staff and my group to really be right on the button when we’re talking about that kind of money,” he said.

City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher delivered some good news regarding the Downtown TIF District last week:

“With the help of Sen. Jill Tracy and Rep. Randy Frese, we were able to get legislation passed to extend the term of our downtown TIF District for another 12 years,” he said.

Steinbrecher called the development a “good opportunity” to help finance some much-needed public improvements and building rehabilitations.
