Richard Dean “Joe” Bush, 70, of Galesburg, died at 9:15 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2019 in Marigold Health Care Center.

He was born June 26, 1948, in Galesburg, the son of Donald J. and Jessie Hazel (Humes) Bush. He married Brenda Fay Pippin on February 4, 1972, in Galesburg. She preceded him in death September 9, 2011.

He is survived by two daughters, Lucille Faith Bush and Jessica Hope (Shawn) Hatch, both of Galesburg; a grandson, Brendan Hatch; a granddaughter, Abigail Hatch; several nieces and nephews; and extended family of Brenda’s. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis Bush in 2008.

Joe was raised and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1966 and from Carl Sandburg College with a degree in Electronic Technologies. He was a leadman with the foam and door machines at Maytag for 36 years, retiring in December 2002.

Joe loved playing golf and watching the Chicago Bears and Bulls play. He was a sergeant in the United States Air Force serving from March 1968 to November 1971.

Visitation will be 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
