Swing for a Cure Softball Tournament This Weekend

Share

The fourth annual Swing for a Cure softball tournament is taking place this weekend at the Warren County YMCA softball fields.

The tournament raises money each year to a family who has been impacted by cancer. The proceeds for this year’s tournament will go to the Blake family. Their daughter Josie is currently battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

There will be a 50/50 raffle and silent auction, with food being served by Big Bucks Barbecue and El Dulce Helado.

Swing for a Cure organizer Ted Dilley tells us what inspired him to start the fundraiser.

“We started this for a group of girls who had a teammate who came down with cancer. It’s going to be a continuing thing. It’s sad but it’s a problem every young child has to deal with, and it’s a way for the children to come together and try to focus on what’s going on so they can help with their issues of having a teammate or friend who has cancer.”

18 teams will be participating in the tournament, ranging from 10 U to 16 U.
