Tornadoes Gearing Up for Playoffs

Share

The playoff bound Abingdon-Avon Tornadoes finished the regular high school football season with a record of 6 and 3 after defeating Peoria Heights Quest 31 to 20 last Friday night. The Tornadoes travel to Kirkland, Illinois on Saturday, November 2nd to take on the 8 and 1 Hiawatha Hawks in the first round of the IHSA Class 1A playoffs. Head Coach Rick Quinn states their key to success is playing hard from the first snap:

“I think it is very important for us to, if we get the ball, find a way to have a great drive and hopefully it ends with points, but we have to find a way to have some success moving the chains a little bit and execute our game plan. Defensively, hold them without scoring. There is going to be a feeling out process obviously because we don’t know them very well and they don’t know us very well. I’m sure they have other tricks in their playbook just like I’m sure we do so there will be a feeling out process. It’s important to go into a game, have success, that way your feel like you belong,” shares Quinn.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornadoes playoff game can be heard on Sunny 97.7 WMOI and radiomonmouth.com on Saturday with pre-game at 1:45 and kickoff at 2 pm.
