Mrs. Dorothy K. Stewart, 84, of Galesburg, Illinois, entered heaven on November 17, 2019 at the Rock River Hospice and Home, Sterling, Illinois.
Dorothy was born on May 6, 1935 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dorothy Reigle married Paul Stewart in Oakland, California on October 10, 1956. Dorothy and Paul were married for 63 years.
She is forever loved and cherished by her husband, her children, Jane (Steve) Connel of Roanoke, Virginia, Janet (Doug) Freed of Sterling, Illinois, Robert Stewart of Galesburg, McLain (Kerry) Stewart of Omaha, Nebraska, Edward (Kelly) Stewart of Galesburg, her sister, Delores Swann of Hayden, Alabama, and sister in law, Alice Stewart of Dahinda, Illinois. Upon her passing, she was reunited with her son, John Clark Stewart, and grandson Matthew Bowman. Eleven additional grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren carry her legacy forward.
Dorothy’s life will be remembered as adventurous, generous, and full of whole-hearted love and laughter. She did not know a stranger. Everywhere she went, she poured out the same grace to others that she accepted from her Savior, Jesus. Dorothy was known for the color red and was an avid blood donor. Dot loved to whistle, watch the birds, and pass Lifesaver mints to people seated in her pew during church. The entirety of her colorful life was spent shining a bright light on everyone around her.
Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2019 at the First Church of the Nazarene, Galesburg. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev.
