Knox’s Kyra Huffman Earns MWC Women’s Basketball Performer of the Week

GRINNELL, Iowa — The Midwest Conference (MWC) announced its Performers of the Week award recipients for the week of December 2-8, 2019 on Monday.

MWC sports information directors nominate student-athletes for the Performer of the Week honor by sport and winners are selected by the MWC staff.

For the winter season, Performers of the Week will be recognized every week on Monday (men’s and women’s basketball) and Tuesday (swimming & diving, indoor track & field) once their seasons have been triggered (three MWC institutions competing) and will conclude the week prior to the sport-specific Conference tournament/championship.

The Performers of the Week award winners are as follows:  

Women’s Basketball Performer of the Week
Kyra Huffman, Knox College
Huffman led the Prairie Fire to a pair of conference victories over Lawrence and Grinnell this week by averaging a double-double for the week. She poured in 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a 67-55 victory over Lawrence on Wednesday and then scored 12 points and pulled down 12 boards in a 79-57 win over Grinnell on Saturday. She finished the week with 26 points, 20 rebounds, four blocks, and three steals.
