Gale L. Mahnesmith, 71, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 10:35 am, Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at his home. 

He was born on December 2, 1948 in Galesburg, IL, the son of Raymond L. and Mildred L. (Willison) Mahnesmith.  Gale served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.   

He married Monica Finley on October 21, 2000 in Monmouth, IL; she survives.   

Gales worked at Simpson Cleaning for many years.  He most recently worked at ICS School as the Head Custodian for twelve years until his retirement.  Gale enjoyed bike riding and puzzle books.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.   

Surviving Gale is his wife, Monica Mahnesmith of Monmouth, IL; one daughter, Brittany Mahnesmith of Monmouth, IL; three sons, Dale Mahnesmith of IL, Shane & Tim Mahnesmith both of CA; his step children, Patricia Robinson of TN, Harry Oary of New Boston, IL, Josh Hathaway of Monmouth, IL; three brothers, Arnold, Jim & Jess Sholl all of Ft. Madison, IA; one sister, Lucinda of Galesburg, IL.  Also surviving are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.   

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Rachel Cossens.   Cremation rites have been accorded.  A celebration of life will be at a later date.  Memorials can be made to the Gale Mahnesmith Memorial Fund.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com
