Ms. Barbara Kay Peake, 65, of Springfield, Illinois died 4:55 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. 

She was born December 27, 1954 in Peoria, Illinois and was adopted at eight months old by Joseph A. and Jean Ann (Beck) Peake of Galesburg Illinois, and grew up on Beecher Ave in Galesburg.

Surviving is a sister, Rebecca A (and Paul) Blystone of Great Falls, Montana, three nephews, a niece, four grand nephews and a grand niece. 

Barbara graduated from Galesburg High School in 1972 and Illinois State University in 1983 with a degree in History. That love of history led to many trips to visit historical sites. She especially enjoyed visiting our nation’s capital.

She was an office coordinator for the Illinois Department of Human Services in Springfield until her retirement in December of 2019.  She was a member of the Catholic Diocese of Springfield and enjoyed attending Mass at the Cathedral.  She enjoyed knitting, craft shows, and travelling.  She was looking forward to more international travel following her retirement, with a trip to Europe at the top of her list.

Cremation will be accorded.  A memorial graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg.  Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memorials can be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
