Ilda Lucile Snowden, 100, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 2:45 am, Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth, IL.
She was born June 4, 1920 in Bath, IL, the daughter of Willard and Iva (Van Etten) McGrew. She was raised and educated in Havana, IL, graduating from Havana High School in 1937. She later attended Liberty Beauty School in Peoria, IL
Ilda married Kenneth Snowden in Palmyra, MO on March 6, 1941 and he passed away on December 24, 2002.
She worked as a hairdresser for several years and later worked as a secretary at Norris Office Equipment in Monmouth for 20 years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monmouth, IL. She also volunteered at Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Monmouth, IL.
Survivors include her daughters, Pam (Ivan) Lancaster of Monmouth, IL and Carolyn (Paul) Olson of Plymouth, IL; 2 grandsons, Jason (Heidi) Lancaster of Monmouth, IL and Mark Olson of Plymouth, IL; 1 granddaughter, Laura (Chris) Mason of Macomb, IL; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one sister, Nellie Quinn; 3 brothers, W.R. McGrew, Burel McGrew, and John McGrew.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be Wednesday morning from 10:00-11:00 am at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Monmouth, the Alzheimer’s Association or OSF Hospice.
