Local Youth Basketball Teams Play at TBK Bank Sports Complex

Over 40 high school aged boys and girls basketball teams from the state of Illinois started play in the United Hoops League at the TBK Bank Sports Complex in Bettendorf, Iowa on Friday night.

A team made up Monmouth-Roseville junior and senior boys played a pair of games on Friday. Monmouth-Roseville lost to a team of Rockridge High School boys 28-13 in the first game. Monmouth-Roseville was led by eight points from Jack Thompson. Nate Henry led Rockridge with 12 points. Thompson led the way in scoring for Monmouth-Roseville in their second game of the night. His 20 points helped Monmouth-Roseville beat a team from Kewanee 30-23.

A team made up of boys from United High School, called the Monmouth Blue Aces, went 2-0 on the night. The Aces knocked off QC Irish 53-35. Declan Flynn led everyone in scoring in the game with 23 points. His brother Cormaic chipped in with 12 and Jackson Bergren was also in double figures with 10 points. The Aces were victorious in their second game of the night, beating the Cougars 62-46. Cormaic and Declan Flynn led the way in scoring once again with 21 and 20 points, respectively.

A team of Monmouth-Roseville High School girls went 1-1 on Friday night, beating Chico’s Bail Bonds 29-13 and falling to MidPro Black 39-32. Keisha-Wilson Bahun and Kelci Shelton each had eight points in the opening game victory. No scoring for the second game was available.

Other area teams that are playing in the United Hoops League that were in action on Friday were MerCo Rec Boys (0-2), Knoxville Boys (1-1), Ridgewood (2-0) and Sherrard (1-1).
