United Red Storm Football Team Chomping at the Bit to Get on the Field

Share

After preparing for a season-opening game that never happened last week, the United Red Storm football squad finally gets on the field tomorrow night. United was slated to play Mid County last Saturday afternoon but the game was canceled due to positive covid tests in the school districts that make up the football co-op. United’s game tomorrow night against the state-ranked Annawan-Wethersfield Titans will be the season, and home, opener for head coach David Milroy and the Storm. It won’t be an easy way to begin an already odd, shortened schedule. The Titans got a nice 24-6 win at home over new Lincoln Trail Conference member Ottawa Marquette last Friday night. A/W is ranked #3 in the first Class 1A AP poll and is number one in the coach’s poll. Milroy says that while it’s not an ideal opponent to start a new season with, he thinks his players are up for the challenge.
