Brian E. Bliss, 55 of Champaign and formerly of Abingdon, passed away unexpectantly Monday, June 21, 2021 at his home in Champaign.
He was born November 8, 1965 in Galesburg, the son of Charles David and Brenda (Gale) Bliss. He married Marcy Maramo on November 28, 2017 in Skokie, Illinois.
Brian is survived by his wife, Marcy Maramo; his children, Jaque Bliss of Champaign, Jillian Bliss of Elmhurst and Marcus Maramo of Niles; his parents, Charles David and Brenda Bliss of rural Maquon; his siblings and their families, Barry (Jeanette) Bliss and Carson Bliss and Caitlyn Bliss of Griffin, Georgia, and Laurie (Brian) Dufala and Brandon Dufala of Morrison, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Lois Bliss, and Max and Doris Gale.
Brian grew up on the family farm and graduated from Abingdon High School. He then enrolled at the University of Illinois in Champaign and earned his B.S. and Masters Degrees in Computer Science. His places of employment included the Hewlett/Packard Company in Dallas, Texas, Sun Micro Systems in Palo Alto, California, Intel in Champaign and he was currently employed as a Software Engineer for National Center for Super Computing Applications for the University of Illinois in Champaign. Brian was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Abingdon Christian Church, 409 S. Main St., Abingdon, IL 61410. Rev. Will Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
