Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 12, 2021:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Brooke Kane. Brooke really showed what kind of force she can be at the net last week in two Three Rivers Conference victories. She led the team with 17 total kills and 3 blocks between the two wins. Brooke has helped the Titans to an outstanding 9-and-1 start to the season.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior boys golfer, Ian McVey. Ian has consistently been one of the top scorers for a talented Red Storm squad all season long. Last week, he was the meet medalist at a six-team meet at Rolling Greens Golf Course in Mt. Sterling. Ian shot a 1-under par 36 for the day.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior girls golfer, Elaina Fisher. Elaina was the meet medalist in a meet at Oak Run Golf Course last week with a score of 44. Due to low numbers early in the season, she was forced to golf in boy’s meets. Undaunted, Elaina still posted some of the lowest scores of each meet.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior exchange-student boys soccer player, Pablo Fernandez. Pablo scored all three goals in a win over Class 1A perrenial power Peoria Christian. His hat trick gave the streaks a 3-0 win over the Chargers. Pablo has contributed five goals this season for the (5-3) Streaks.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is freshman boys soccer player, Jadon Rodeffer. Jadon had the tying goal in the first match of last week, as the Tornadoes tied Riverdale at 1-1. Later in the week, he scored another goal in a loss to the Orion/Sherrard co-op. Jadon has put five balls in the back of the net so far, tops on the squad.
