A busy weekend is ahead for the Historic Ellisville Restoration Organization, which is a non-profit dedicated in restoring and preserving the historic structures in Ellisville. The festivities kick off this Friday evening with a disco Friday Night Fever dance at the Ellisville Opera House, beginning with a hustle dance lesson at 7 pm. Then on Saturday, the First annual Spoon River Scenic Bike Ride will begin at 7 am, says Treasurer Sheila Blout:
“We have our inaugural 100Km bicycle ride, starting at 7:00 am. 100Km is 59.4 miles. It will start at Ellisville, work its’ way through the country roads to Marietta, then work their way down to the former Camp Ellis area, that was a former World War II camp and Army training camp. They will then work up to Bernadotte and return to Ellisville. There will be about 70% of it is going to be gravel roads, so you are going to want your mountain bikes or whatever bike has really good tread.”
Also this Saturday in Ellisville, the first annual Folk Art Festival, featuring local artisans, craftsmen, and area musicians, will take place at the Ellisville Opera House. For details on these events and all other upcoming events, search Historic Ellisville Restoration Organization on Facebook.
