Monmouth College Begins Spring Semester Today with Two Weeks of Virtual Classes

The 2022 spring semester at Monmouth College gets underway today. Students were welcomed back to campus over the weekend and underwent COVID-19 testing protocols. For the first two weeks back, Monmouth College will have a “cool down” period and classes will be held virtually, says Dean of Faculty Mark Willhardt:

“We are going to do the first two weeks remotely. They are probably a little less excited about the remote learning because they are having flashbacks to a year, a year and a half ago. The truth is doing two weeks of that to help us get through this little wave of whatever might be coming through is a much better way of going. Two weeks, they can handle two weeks, we can all handle all two weeks. I think it will be a better way to make sure the campus is healthy and safe.”

After eliminating a spring break last year, Willhardt says this year’s academic calendar makes it possible for students to once again get a weeklong spring break from March 7th through March 11th.
