On Saturday, Feb. 5, at approximately 2 a.m., the Macomb Police Department responded to the intersection of Charles and Pierce Streets for a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle.

Officers responding had learned the suspect vehicle fled the area after striking the pedestrian. The Macomb Fire Department and Lifeguard Ambulance also responded to the victim’s location.

The victim, a 24-year-old female, was transported to the McDonough District Hospital for her injuries and later was released.

A Macomb police officer responding to the initial call was able to locate a vehicle leaving the area. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and was determined to be the suspect vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jacelyn McIlhenny, 18.

The officer suspected McIlhenny of being under the influence of alcohol and conducted a preliminary investigation. McIlhenny was taken into custody and found to be in possession of an Oxycodone Hydrochloride pill.

McIlhenny was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Leaving the Scene of Accident Involving an Injury, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and No Insurance.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
