Rick L. Bigger, age 59, of Gladstone, Illinois passed away at 7:36 am on Saturday February 5, 2022 at his Gladstone residence. Rick was born on January 6, 1963 in Monmouth, and is the son of Richard W. and Dixie Lee Hinshaw Bigger. Rick was raised in Biggsville where he attended the local school and graduated from Union High School in 1981. Rick married Denise Lynn Schulze on October 2, 1984 at the Covered Bridge near Gladstone, Illinois and she is surviving. Rick was first employed at Western Stonewaree as a “Clay Maker” for eleven years. He then worked as a machine operator at Champion Spark Plug in Burlington, Iowa for 28 years. He was an active member of the United Auto Workers of America in Burlington, Iowa. Rick loved to mow and do yard work. He also loved to work on cars and was handy as a mechanic. His favorite show was the Andy Griffith Show on T.V. Surviving him is his wife, Denise of Gladstone, Illinois and his daughter, Amber L. Bigger of Ft.Madison, Iowa. Also surviving Rick is his Uncle and best friend, Jay Hinshaw of Oquawka, Illinois. Also surviving is Rick’s very special cat “Paxton” of which he dearly loved.
Preceding him in his death are his grandparents, parents, and his father in law. Due to the weather and Covid 19 cremation is currently planned and memorial service is being planned by his family in the springtime. A memorial fund for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospitals is being established and may be sent to his home in Gladstone, P. O.
