Richard F. (Rick) Mejia, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away of natural causes on April 25, 2022 at age 85, at a hospital in Peoria, Illinois. Rick was born July 16, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to Jesus and Agustina (Mendez) Mejia. He graduated from St. Patrick High School in Chicago, joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. Rick graduated from DePaul University with an MBA. Rick worked as a tax accountant and was an enrolled agent of the IRS. 

Beloved husband of the late Geraldeen “Geri” (nee Goralczyk) Mejia. Devoted father of Sally (Jaime), Scott, Tammara and Linda. He is survived by three brothers, Dan (Rose), Sam (Lydia), Joe and a sister, Mary Cunningham, many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, Jaime Jr. (Joanna), Christopher, Phillip, Amanda and great grandchildren, Trinity, Elaina, Carmelo and Emiliano.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Agustina, wife Geri, sister Angelina, brother Louis, brother Robert, sister-in-law Rosemary, brother Ramiro, sister-in-law Lillian, brother-in-law Dick Cunningham, and niece Sarah Cunningham.

Visitation is Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 3:00 p.m.– 8:00 p.m. at Lawn Funeral Home – Burbank, 7909 State Road, Burbank, Illinois.    Funeral mass is 9:30 a.m. May 5, 2022 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 8000 Linder Avenue, Burbank, Illinois followed by Interment at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Evergreen Park, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities
