Joyce Marie Stewart Meloan, age 86, of Palm Coast, FL (formerly of Gladstone, IL) passed away October 4th, 2022 in her home surrounded by her family. Joyce was the daughter of Earl and Phyllis Stewart of Gladstone, IL. She was born in Gladstone, IL on April 14, 1936. She graduated from G&O High School in 1954. Joyce worked at Sylvania Electric and IAAP in Iowa. She also worked in the Henderson County Clerk’s Office for 28 years, serving eight of those years as County Clerk, retiring in 1998. She served as Gladstone Township Clerk and Gladstone Village Clerk from 1973-1983. She was active in the Henderson County Republican Women’s Club, Eagles Auxiliary, and served on the Gladstone Homecoming Committee for 20 years. Joyce was also a Girl Scout and Brownie Leader. She enjoyed being outdoors tending to her flowers, sports, playing bingo, bowling, boating and skiing on the Mississippi River, going to the casino and watching hummingbirds out of her kitchen window.
Joyce is survived by her two daughters Dana Holford and Connie Perry; granddaughters Sarah (Eric) Schulte and Shayna (Mike) Watson; great grandson Wyatt Schulte; great granddaughter Haley Schulte; Nieces Machell (Doug) Gregory and Dawn McSorley; Nephews Chris (Penny) Stewart and Darren (Shellie) Stewart; several great nieces and nephews. Joyce is preceded in death by her father (Earl Stewart), mother (Phyllis Stewart), brother (Harold Stewart) and granddaughter (Brooke Holford).
There will be no visitation. Gravesite rites will be November 4th, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Oquawka cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established for the Gladstone Fire Department.
