Monmouth College Baseball Feeling a Sense of Urgency with Season Starting to Wind Down

Story by Prairie Communications intern Kadin Rogers

The Monmouth College baseball team has had a full slate of games through the halfway point of the April month. The Scots started the month with a series against the University of Chicago, winning one of their 3 contests against the Maroons. Monmouth would then suffer a series sweep at the hands of Grinell College, before bouncing back with back to back wins over Blackburn College and Knox College last Monday and Tuesday. Most recently, the Scots began a series with Beloit over the weekend. Monmouth would drop the first Saturday game 15-9, while the second game was postponed midway through the 6th inning due to darkness. That game is scheduled to resume today. With the Scots currently sitting at 4-8 in Midwest Conference play, Sports Information Director Nathan Baliva says that Monmouth needs to grab some wins in upcoming games to secure a spot in the upcoming MWC tournament.

The Scots will wrap up their unfinished contest from Saturday today, before playing another game against the first place Buccaneers after the completion of the first game at Glasgow Field in Monmouth. For the full interview with SID Baliva, visit the Sports Podcast section.
