Charles “Gene” Eugene Larson, age 88, of Monmouth, IL, died Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 6:45 pm at Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth, IL.

He was born July 16, 1934 in Monmouth, Illinois the son of Leslie and Bessie (Palmburg) Larson. He graduated from Biggsville High School in 1952. He married Donna Stevenson on August 2, 1953 in Biggsville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on March 5, 2023.

 He farmed for many years and worked for Monmouth Grain and Dryer and West Central FS for 35 years. He was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder and Trustee, sang in the choir, a member of Ice Breakers, and he helped with Wednesday Night Live. He was also a member of the Monmouth Evening Lions Club and was a member of the Warren County Prime Beef Festival board. He enjoyed his family, carving, fishing, and reading. He was also the President of the Monmouth Nursing Home council and he was a friend to all of the staff at the nursing home.

Survivors include his daughter, Pamela (Terry) Moore of Monmouth, IL; his sons, Steven (Candy) Larson of Springfield, IL and Bradley (Krista) Larson of Monmouth, IL; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Laurence Larson and Wendell Larson, daughter-in-law, Paula Larson, and a niece and nephew.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Faith United Presbyterian Church, Monmouth.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the church.  Memorials can be made to Strom Center in Monmouth.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence, please visit www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com
