David Glasnovich, 69, of Galesburg, died at 11:05 p.m. Sunday, June 18, 2023, in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born July 18, 1953, in Galesburg, the fourteenth of 14 children to Jako and Elizabeth Glasnovich. He married Paula Sue Hayes on November 27, 1982, in Bushnell.
He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Paula; sisters, Susie Howard and Theresa Bivens; brothers, Phil (Pat) and John (Jean Ann) Glasnovich; sisters-in-law, Shirley, Pat, Linda, and Sara Glasnovich; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; Joe, Nick, Mike, Bill, and Steve Glasnovich, sister; Cecilia Glasnovich; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Bill McMahon, Anna and David Skrzelowski, and Tedie and John Maxwell; brothers-in-law, Danny Howard and Bill Bivens.
David took over ownership of the family tavern, Glasnovich Tavern “Jakes” in 1986 and continued to operate it until his retirement in 2016. He was baptized at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and was a part of the final graduating class of Costa High School in 1971.
David enjoyed fishing both on the Mississippi River and at Lake Storey, going to casinos, and gardening. David was an avid baseball fan who enjoyed watching just about any game on T.V. or in person. He was a fan of the Atlanta Braves.
Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or The Orpheum Theatre.
