Frederick L. Peterson, age 100, passed away at 12:39 PM on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at his residence in Gladstone, Illinois. He was born January 8, 1923 in Biggsville, Illinois, the son of Frederick Lawrence and Florence Clara (Batey) Peterson. Fred attended schools in the Biggsville area. on November 27, 1950, he married Katherine Eileen Dalton in Gladstone, and she preceded him in death on July 10, 2008. Frederick was a journeyman electrician, working out of IBEW in Burlington, Iowa for 30 years. He also worked at the I.A.A.P. in Middletown, Iowa. In his spare time, he like working crossword puzzles. He loved cats, and was especially fond on his yellow tom cat, Tom.

Fred is survived by his daughter, Karen (Cory) Rounds of Gladstone, IL, his step-daughter, Sue Leath of LaHarpe, IL, three sons, Fred (Carol) Peterson of Burlington, IA, Charles Peterson of Ft. Madison, IA., and Larry Peterson of Georgia. Also surviving are five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Laura Mae, and many other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one step-daughter, Garnet.

A funeral service for Frederick Peterson is planned for 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. His family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Carman Cemetery.
