The 9th Annual Monarch Migration Festival at the Lakeside Nature Center in Galesburg will be Saturday, September 9th from 10 am to 3 pm. Local Butterfly Lady with the University of Illinois Extension, Rhonda Brady, shares attendees will learn all about the life cycle of the Monarch butterfly:

“Everything Monarch. Everything butterfly. Everything nature. We really have a festival that is free family fun. People come and they want to know more about the facts of the Monarch. They want to know more about the facts of the migration, what is going on with these little tiny butterflies and do they really go to Mexico; and we can show them and help educate them that yes they do.”

A tagged Monarch butterfly will be released each hour during the festival beginning at 10:55 am. The event is free, however registration is required to tour the education booths, which can be done online at Monarch Migration Festival | Illinois Extension | UIUC.
