Lyle L. Jones, age 68, of Burlington, Iowa; passed away at 6:50 pm on Monday December 11, 2023 at University Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa. Lyle was born on October 27, 1955 in Aberdeen, South Dakota and is the son of Everett D. and Marietta M. Froehlich Jones. Lyle lived on the farm in Mina, South Dakota before moving to August and then to Fairchild, Wisconsin. He then moved to Gladstone, Illinois where he finished High School at Union in the class of 1973. Lyle first worked at Coors Brewing Company in Golden, Colorado and later worked at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail yard in Galesburg doing track maintenance. He later was employed by Cessford Construction Company in Biggsville, Illinois doing plant maintenance. Lyle loved to go hunting and fishing locally.
Surviving him is his daughter, Katherine Valentine and Bill in Galesburg, Illinois and his son, Tyler Jones and Crystal of Biggsville, Illinois. There are three grandchildren, Lance, Lewis, and Annabelle, one niece LeAnn (David) Clausen, and one nephew Jason (Theresa) Jones. Lyle’s brother also survives, Larry Jones and Ludalle in Florida. He is preceded in his death by his parents and one sister, Linda Avery.
A funeral service for Lyle is planned on Tuesday December 19, 2023 at 10:30 am at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Interment will be in the Biggsville Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends for the hour prior to his service, from 9:30 to 10:30 am Tuesday at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. A memorial fund is being established for Disabled American Veterans and my be left at the funeral home.
