Elaine R. Henshaw, age 64, of Keithsburg, Illinois passed away at University Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa at 8:45 pm on January 18, 2024. Elaine was born on February 12, 1959 in North Carolina and is the daughter of Carl E. and Betty (Cook) Mehaffy. Elaine is a military daughter and was raised in various communities where her father was stationed. Elaine met and married Allen R. Henshaw on October 4, 1980 in the Henshaw residence near Keithsburg, Illinois. Elaine was first employed in Burlington, Iowa at Burlington Basket Company for several years. They then moved to their residence in Big River State Park where Allen was the superintendent for the next twenty-five years.

They then moved in 2006 to their residence in Keithsburg, Illinois where they have raised a family to the present. Elaine has been the Treasurer for the Henderson County Humane Society for forty-five years. She also enjoyed helping her husband, Allen do his woodworking business at their home. She enjoyed cooking for the family and helping as Treasurer of First Christian Church in Keithsburg, where she is a member. She enjoyed raising plants in her garden and loved and cared for all animals. Most of all she loved caring for her family, children, and grandchildren.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Allen R. Henshaw of Keithsburg, Illinois; two daughters, Tracy Chandler and Carl of Oquawka, IL and Misty Fues of Andalusia, IL, one son, Allen Henshaw, Jr. and Kasi of New Boston, IL her mother Betty, her step-mother, Thelma Mehaffy, four grandchildren, Leighanna, Payton, Hayes, and Anna Rose, four brothers and two sisters. She is preceded in her death by her father, Carl, daughter, Amber, and her grandparents.

A graveside service for Elaine is planned at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 29, 2024 at the Oquawka Cemetery. Her family plans visitation and will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 prior to the graveside service at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois.
