Strong Winter Storm Possible Early Next Week

Justin Schultz for the NWS Quad Cities Team

We continue to watch for a possible winter storm to impact our region for early next week. Here is the latest information:
Early indications are that the greatest impacts from this system may be seen over far southeastern Iowa, northeast Missouri, into west-central Illinois, with between 50 to 70% chances of minor winter travel impacts in these areas. This area can still change.
There is still uncertainty on the exact track of the system, which influences how much snow will fall and where. However, with this likely being a potent system, strong winds are likely to occur. Even if snow turns out to be relatively light, blowing snow and reduced visibility are possible in this scenario.
Temperatures near the ground may be near to above freezing at times, which would help limit the snow amounts.
Most likely time frame for this storm continues to be during the late Monday through Tuesday period.
