At the recent Illinois Music Education Conference in Peoria, Monmouth-Roseville was the only school with students performing that were not from Chicago and Performing Arts Director Kevin Ferry shares the students did outstanding with two being named in the Top 300 All State Honors Choir:
“Our kids just got back from the Illinois Music Education Conference where we were a performing group, which is an audition process that is not easy to get into and the kids really did a fantastic job, had a whole lot of fun and performed really well. A part of the IMEC Conference is the All-State choirs, bands, and orchestras and Rowan Love and Drew Carlson made All State Honors Choir, which is the top 300 singers in the state of Illinois that went through this process. That is very, very difficult to get into on its’ own and then when they give the selection, the pieces they are going to sing, sometimes they have solos in them. Usually, a student from downstate Illinois is not a kid that is going to get a solo and Rowan Love auditioned for a solo, got a solo, and crushed it.”
