Jennifer O’Hern Selected as Director of Finance for the City of Galesburg

Jennifer O’Hern has been selected to fill the position of Director of Finance for the City of Galesburg.

O’Hern joins the city with a plethora of accounting experience, making her an ideal candidate to lead the Finance Department. The City of Galesburg Finance Department provides the accounting services of the City, including utility billing, banking, budgeting, payroll, and purchasing. O’Hern most recently served as the District Accountant for Moline-Coal Valley CUSD 40, including preparing the annual budget, audit, and monthly financial reports, as well as supervising the business office, including payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. She brings over 16 years of experience in all areas of governmental finance, as well as a track record of success leading and collaborating on projects and initiatives.

O’Hern holds a Master of Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance from Western Illinois University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Knox College.

“We are very excited to have Jennifer O’Hern joining the team as the Director of Finance for the City of Galesburg,” said Eric Hanson, City Manager. “The Finance Director plays an integral role in our organization, providing leadership and accounting expertise throughout the budget process, as well as leading an excellent team of staff to ensure all daily utility billing and accounting services are executed. Given Jennifer’s professional experience, and proven track record of leadership, I am confident she will excel in this position.”

Born and raised in Galesburg, and the surrounding community, O’Hern is pleased to return to Galesburg.

O’Hern was selected as the Director of Finance for the City of Galesburg at the conclusion of a comprehensive search, and it is anticipated her first day will be June 17, 2024.
