...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM CDT
TUESDAY...
* WHAT...Peak afternoon heat indices between 95 to around 100
degrees.
* WHERE...Portions of north central, northwest, and west central
Illinois, east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa, and
northeast Missouri.
* WHEN...From 10 AM this morning to 8 PM CDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and humid conditions may cause heat
illnesses.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight temperatures in the 70s will
provide little relief for those without air conditioning.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
A Heat Advisory is in effect for the entire outlook area through Tuesday. Hot and humid conditions can be expected with heat indices in the mid 90s to around 100 degrees. Isolated thunderstorms are possible this afternoon, but severe weather is not expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY Hot and humid conditions will continue for much of the week and into the weekend for portions of the area. Periodic rounds of showers and thunderstorms are possible from Tuesday night through the weekend. It is too early to determine the severe potential or rain amounts. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation will not be needed today and tonight. GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY: Toward the northeast at 30 to 35 mph.
