Week One of the High School Football Season on the PCSN Contains a Pair of Firsts

Share

Opening week of the high school football season is finally upon us. Once again this season on the PCSN, we’ll have full coverage of the Monmouth-Roseville Titans and United Red Storm on Sunny 97.7 WMOI and AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM, respectively.

Monmouth-Roseville is coming off their 3rd straight postseason appearance after going to the second round of the playoffs in 2023. United won their first two games of last season but finished the year at (3-6). Monmouth-Roseville returns a plethora of starters and key skill position players so for good reason, there’s a buzz around the program heading into this season. The Titans will host the new kids on the Three Rivers Athletic Conference, the Mercer County Golden Eagles, tonight at Coach Dobry Field in Monmouth. After being long-time rivals in the old Olympic Conference, Mercer County left to join the Lincoln Trail Conference and Monmouth-Roseville was a part of the West Central Conference. Mercer County has since left the LTC to join Monmouth-Roseville in the TRAC.

Titan head coach Jeremy Adolphson says the atmosphere should be electric tonight.

The United Red Storm have a new man in charge of the program. Former head coach David Milroy stepped down following the 2023 season and former assistant coach at Normal Community, Andrew Goodwin, has taken over the reigns of the Red Storm football program.

Goodwin says most of his preseason time has been implementing his philosophy and system on his players, which seems to be going well, with the kids buying what he’s been selling.

Like Monmouth-Roseville, United is also hosting a new kid on the block. With Mercer County leaving the Lincoln Trail Conference, Bureau Valley has switched spots with the Golden Eagles and will travel to United High School tonight for their first conference match up.

We’ll have both the Monmouth-Roseville/Mercer County and United/Bureau Valley matchups on the PCSN. The Monmouth-Roseville game can be found on Sunny 97.7 WMOI, with United on AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM. Both games will kickoff at 7:00, with the pregame shows starting at 6:35. Along with the radio, both games can be heard online at radiomonmouth.com by clicking on the LISTEN LIVE button and also on our free 97.7 WMOI and 1330 WRAM apps. You can download both apps from your Google Play or Apple App Stores and listen right from the bleachers with a smartphone.

Both of Adolphson and Goodwin’s interviews in their entirety can be found in the SPORTS PODCAST section.
