Bonnie J. McCracken, 80, of Abingdon, died at 4:03 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2024, at home.

She was born January 14, 1944, in Monmouth, the daughter of Lester Earl and Betty Jean (Stemp) Edgar. She married Donald G. McCracken on September 20, 1963, at Coldbrook Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Donald; two children, Rusty (Janelle) McCracken of Galesburg and Robin (Ted) Stull of Avon; four grandchildren, Tony Davis, Doug (Chelsea) Davis, Gregory (Mackenzie) Davis, and Alyssa McCracken; and five great grandchildren, Jackson, Isabella, Carter, Emelia, and Everleigh. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Roger.

After graduating from Galesburg High School, Bonnie went on to study to become a registered nurse. She worked at OSF St. Mary Medical Center for 40 years in several departments, including, pediatrics, pre-op/recovery, ICCU, and as a scrub nurse. She also worked at the Care Center of Abingdon before their closure.

Bonnie was an active member of the Cameron Christian Church. She was an avid reader. Her favorite pastime was spoiling her great grandbabies.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services of Galesburg. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation with burial in the Abingdon Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cameron Christian Church.
