Charles F. “Sonny” Bundy, 90, of Oquawka, IL, passed away at 1:10 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. 

He was born on November 28, 1933 in Gladstone, IL, the son of Charles C. and Bertha (Tracy) Bundy.  Charlie was raised and educated in Gladstone and graduated from Gladstone High School. 

Charlie proudly served in the United States Army from 1950-1953. 

He married Janice Meyer on July 17, 1962 in Stronghurst, IL; she preceded him in death on July 8, 2024. 

Charlie worked for the Teamsters driving a construction truck for several years.  He later worked as a mechanic until his retirement.  Charlie enjoyed racing cars in his younger years.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. 

Surviving Charlie are his children, Lori Willits of Gladstone, IL, Donna (Roger) Harmsen of New London, MO, Doyle Bundy of Denver, CO; his grandchildren, Victor Hastings, Chuck (Lora) Newton, Mike (Hollie) Neal, Lacy (Mike) Kindhart, Haley Willits, Katie (Tim) Wilson; ten great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one brother, Larry (Donna) Bundy of Oquawka, IL; two sisters, Evelyn Montroy of Searcy, AR, Sue (Leroy) Hull of Gladstone, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, Marsha Kidd, and one grandson, Jim Neal; one great great grandson, Tyler Neal; and four brothers, William “Bub” Bundy, Jim Bundy, Donnie Bundy, and Kenneth “Dean” Bundy. 

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Oquawka Cemetery, Oquawka, IL.  No visitation hours are planned.  Memorials can be made to the Charlie Bundy Memorial Fund and can be sent to the funeral home.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
