At the recent United Board of Education Meeting, the board members had a presentation by the Warren County State’s Attorney and Warren County Sheriff’s Offices regarding emails and social media comments, reports Superintendent Tom Hawkins:

“Unfortunately, we are in a time where people really don’t know how to voice frustrations and we are starting to see an uptick, which is unfortunate, of threatening comments either on social media or through email. In situations like this, the threatening comments could be towards schools or staff members, and it could be they didn’t mean it when they said it. According to our local sheriff’s department and State’s Attorney, that type of stuff is on the rise and not just here, everywhere. It is unfortunate, but our Board wanted to take a stance that if you do make threats like that, we are going to call the sheriff’s department. We take those threats against our staff seriously.”

The United Board of Education will have their next monthly meeting on Thursday, January 9th, 2025.
