The Monmouth Fire Department recently presented a Civilian Commendation Award to Doug Dotson for his assistance during an incident in the country, informs Communications Director Ken Helms:
“There was an incident out in the country and a piece of heavy equipment actually suffered a failure and ended up pinning a victim in the machinery. A person was there actually on site, by the name of Doug Dotson, and he was familiar with the equipment and was there to assist the Monmouth Fire Department when they came to do extrication services. Chief Rexroat and Assistant Chief Spears both spoke about how he was critical being there on site because of his knowledge of operation on the machine and how they could disable certain things to extricate the patient safely without causing anymore harm.”
Additionally, two new firefighters were sworn-in to join the Monmouth Fire Department; Lucas Potter and Schuyler Melton, who will both attend fire college in Champaign.
