Dana Suzanne Kennett, 53, of Knoxville, died at 5:50 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2025, at home with family at her side.

She was born July 11, 1971, in Galesburg Cottage Hospital, the daughter of E. Daniel and M. Joyce (Goins) Johnson. She married Shawn Kennett in August 1994, in Galesburg.

She is survived by her husband, Shawn, of East Galesburg; her parents, Joyce and Larry Cramer of Knoxville and E. Daniel Johnson of Abingdon; a son, Holden Kennett of Galesburg; a daughter, Carleigh Kennett of East Galesburg; four grandchildren, Calvin, Carmen, Cora, and Gracelyn; two brothers, Mark (Crystal) Johnson of Macomb and Scott (Beth) Lawson of Clinton, Illinois; four sisters, Stormy (Colton) Weedman of East Galesburg, Becky (Kent) Nash of Gibson City, Mary (Brian) Brand of Altona, and Sarah Rose of Knoxville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her granny, Maxine Johnson; a sister, Kelli Smith; and a nephew, Cody L. Ray.

Dana graduated from Knoxville High School in 1989 and from Carl Sandburg College in 2000. She was an x-ray technician for 20 years. She was a long-time member of the Knoxville American Legion Post 749 Auxiliary. Dana had many loves, including her grandbabies, the Green Bay Packers, doing x-rays, having a great time with her friends, and playing mermaid to make the kids laugh.

Dana was indeed a Smooth Operator.

Cremation will be accorded. Family burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. A celebration of Dana’s life will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Knoxville American Legion. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Knoxville American Legion Post 749 Auxiliary. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services of Galesburg is honored to serve the family.
