Severe weather can strike quickly, and having a plan in place can make all the difference. The week of March 3 – 7, 2025 is severe weather preparedness week and dedicated to providing you with the tools and knowledge you need to protect yourself and your loved ones.
Throughout the week, Knox County Emergency Management Agency (KCEMA) will post critical weather safety information on the KCEMA Facebook page. Make sure to follow along for important weather safety resources and information, covering the following topics.
- MONDAY: Warnings – Sign up for CodeRED alerts, a critical emergency notification system that delivers time-sensitive weather alerts directly to your phone.
- TUESDAY: Tornado Drill Day – All National Weather Service offices in Illinois will conduct a test of NOAA Weather Alert Radios at 10:00 am CST Tuesday 3/4/25 for Severe Weather Preparedness Week
- WEDNESDAY: Lightning
- THURSDAY: Hail/Wind
- FRIDAY: Flash Flooding
Illinois had the most tornadoes of any US State last year, with 142. Spring brings an increased risk of severe weather, making it the perfect time to learn more about how to keep yourself and your family safe from severe weather events.
