In the early afternoon of May 3, 2025 and surrounded by family, Dean Thomas Patterson was swept away from this earth into the glorious presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Dean was born at home in Alexis, Il to Thomas and Justina (nee Davis) Patterson on January 30, 1933. He would later spend most of his adult life living and raising a family in the same home he was born in. Dean was preceded in death by a baby sister, Sharon, his father, Thomas, his mother, Justina, and a grandson, Hans Anderson. Dean graduated from Monmouth High School in Monmouth Il. He operated the farm adjacent to the home where he was born in Alexis, Il for most of his life. In addition, he also worked at Gambles in Monmouth, Il and after retirement enjoyed selling cars at Essig-Uftring, Aledo, Il. Dean had a strong faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior. That faith influenced every part of his life. He began teaching adult Sunday School classes at 18. He was a board member at every church where he attended as a member. Dean joined the Gideons in 1988 and regularly passed out New Testaments to anyone he met. His greatest hope in life was to see all of his children love and follow Jesus as Savior.

Dean is survived by his dearly beloved wife of 73 years, Carolyn (nee Beaty) Patterson. Their many years of marriage is a result of their common goal: Each for the Other and Both for the Lord. Also surviving are his children, Deborah Anderson (Terry Moreland) of Midvale, ID, Mark (Karen) Patterson of Three Lakes, WI, and Daniel (Kim) Patterson of Oshkosh, WI; surviving grandchildren, Jennie Kotula, Erin Sharp, Dane Patterson, Taylor Patterson, Natalie Tahtinen, Leah Patterson, and Brady Patterson; In addition, there are 11 great grandchildren with number 12 arriving very soon.
