Suzanne M. Lovdahl, 83, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg, IL. 

She was born on July 26, 1941, in her grandmother’s home in Burlington, IA, the daughter of John C. and Doris (Lewis) Todd.  She moved to Monmouth at the age of 5 and was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1959. 

Suzanne married James Lovdahl on June 24, 1961, at the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth.  They were married for 50 years before his passing on September 3, 2011. 

She went to work at the age of 14 for E.B. Colwell Department Store and later for Bowman-Colwells.  Suzanne also worked at the Model Clothing Store. 

Suzanne and Jim lived in Greenbriar, TN, for several years while Jim was manager of the Wells Pet Food Plant in Springfield, TN. While in Tennessee, she actively advocated for the local school system.  Suzanne was also a Cub Scout Leader there. 

Returning to Monmouth, she also became very involved in the school system.  She was an Art Presenter and the PTA President at Willitts School.  Suzanne was active in her children’s High School years and was known as “Mom” to all their friends and in recent years, as “Grandma Suzie” to many. 

Suzanne was a past volunteer at Community Memorial Hospital and very active in the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth, serving on many committees.  She was a member of the Deborah Circle.  Suzanne was an active member of the Chapter LE PEO for over 50 years, serving as Past President and the Chapter’s Treasurer for over 20 years. 

Suzanne remained active all of her life. She was an avid reader; she had an extensive mystery library.  Suzanne was proud of her home, yard, and rose garden.  She loved spending time with her friends, especially her “Lunchable Sisters” and PEO sisters. Most of all, her family and grandchildren were the love of her life. 

Surviving Suzanne is her son, Kevin (Donna) Lovdahl of Monmouth, IL; one daughter, Pam Camden of Holly Springs, NC; her grandchildren, Matthew (Rebecca) Lovdahl of Monmouth, IL, Logan (Mallory) Camden of Norwalk, IA, Paige Camden of Charlotte, NC, Tara (Eric) Empson of Liberty, MO, Jeremiah (Michelle) Tutor of Monmouth, IL and Timothy (Kathy) Tutor of Monmouth, IL.  Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Nash, Hayes and Barrett Lovdahl, Paris Ferguson, Jaxton McKinney, Caleb (Caitlyn), Eric Jr, Isaiah and Katherine Empson, Isaac, Vivian and Abigail Tutor, Milah and Trenton Tutor and great-great-grandchildren Kayce Empson and Lily Cotter.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, parents, husband, and brother, Michael Todd.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2025 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL.
