Unlike other commodity driven businesses, ethanol has been in an upswing.
“We were definitely in a trough this spring, but overall, where we stand is in a pretty good spot. We had some significant wins,” shares David Zimmerman, CEO of Big River Resources.
One recent win was the One Big Beautiful Bill, which was passed in July, with information on ethanol and agriculture related tax credits. However, even with tax credit wins, Zimmerman says the next hurdle is grinding more corn.
“If you go 10,15, 20 years from now, there is going to be a 20-billion-bushel crop. We do not have the usage for that type of a crop and the additional grain that the US farmer grows every year. We’ve got to be thinking about that now, and that’s why E15 is something that we are laser focused on.”
Despite low domestic ethanol demand Zimmerman adds that the United States is exporting record amounts of ethanol.
