Ms. Rebecca L. “Becky” Engle, 58, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born January 3, 1967, in Galesburg, the daughter of Robert W. and Billie L. (Bogeart) Engle.
Becky is survived by her son, Robert “Bobby” (and Lindy) Engle of Coralville, Iowa; her sister, Rachel (and Tom) Crouch of East Galesburg; and her brothers, John (and Le Ana) Newcomer of Salem, Illinois, and Ronnie Newcomer of Missouri. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews—Sarah (and Russell) Overhake of Galesburg, Taylor Durant of St. Louis, Missouri, Joey Crouch of Knoxville, Illinois, and Addison Boyd of Galesburg—as well as two very special great-niece and great-nephew, Isaiah Clark and Veda Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Ron Boyd.
A 1985 graduate of Knoxville High School, Becky was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. Throughout her life, she held several jobs—often more than one at a time. She worked at Walmart in Galesburg, in the ICU department at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, as manager of the Knoxville McDonald’s, as assistant manager at East Main Hy-Vee, and at Lincare in Galesburg. Outside of work, Becky enjoyed bowling, and most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family.
As Becky requested, cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service, Galesburg Chapel. A private graveside service will be Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Knoxville Cemetery, with Chaplain Jordan Knight officiating. Memorials may be made to the Knoxville Fire Department.
