Justin V. Brewer, 40, of Rockford, IL, formerly of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 7:09 a.m., Monday, January 19, 2026 at Forest City Rehab and Nursing Center, Rockford, IL.

He was born on March 27th, 1985, in Monmouth, IL, the son of Roger and Defrance “De” (Shawgo) Brewer. Justin was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 2004.

Justin worked at Dairy Queen in Monmouth for several years. He later worked at Smithfield Foods and, most recently, at IMI Cornelius Equipco, also in Monmouth. In his free time, Justin enjoyed playing his Nintendo and watching professional wrestling. Above all else, he cherished spending time with his beloved cats.

Surviving Justin is his mother, Defrance “De” Brewer of Monmouth, IL; his maternal grandma, Edna Shawgo, Galesburg, IL; his aunt, Jo (Ed) Bjorling of Oneida, IL; his cousins, Melissa (Aaron) Struble, Sarah (Joe) Glessner, Corey Bjorling, and Mike Brewer. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Brewer; his sister Kimberly (Brewer) Carlson; maternal grandfather, David Shawgo; paternal grandmother, Mary Irene Brewer Miller; paternal grandfather, Lonnie Brewer; and uncles, Wayne Brewer and Dwayne Brewer. 

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2026 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery, Monmouth, IL.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Justin Brewer Memorial Fund and can be sent to the funeral home.
