February is American Heart Month. As heart disease is a leading cause of death, staff at Mayo Clinic designed strategies to lower a person’s risk of heart disease, explains Solvera Health’s Dr. Julio Santiago:
“Managing stress, getting enough sleep, decreasing the amount of processed foods you eat, routine exercise, watching that weight, and decreasing blood pressure; those particular things that we want you to be aware of. I looked at those tips and come up with the acronym F.O.C.U.S., which stand for Find Out Core Uplifting Strategies.”
Additional tips to lowering the risk of heart disease include not smoking or using tobacco, scheduling regular health screening tests, and prevention against infections.
