It’s almost sectional championship time for IHSA boys basketball, and United High School is gearing up to host a huge championship game tomorrow night.
United has already had a busy week, hosting both sectional semifinals earlier this week. On Tuesday, Deer Creek-Mackinaw knocked out Brimfield in a narrow 41-40 win. Then last night, Tremont took care of Illini Bluffs 49-34.
That sets up tomorrow night’s sectional championship matchup between Tremont and Deer Creek-Mackinaw.
The two conference foes have already matched up three times this season, with Deer Creek-Mackinaw holding a 2-1 edge in the season series. However, Tremont won the most recent matchup back on January 20. Deer Creek-Mackinaw enters the game at 26-6 while Tremont sits at 24-10.
United Athletic Director Jeremy Sharp says fans are in for a big night.
Doors for tomorrow’s matchup between Tremont and Deer Creek-Mackinaw, which some fans are calling the Highway 9 rivalry, will open at 6 p.m.
